February 6, 1917 - February 7, 2014
It is with deep sorrow, and gratefulness for a long and active life, that we announce the passing of our loving mother one day after her 97th birthday. Mom breathed her last breath cradled in the arms of her loving daughter Kathy. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter Kathy of Saskatoon, sons Ed (Insook) of Calgary and Ronald (Lorea) of Vancouver, grandchildren Terri (Marcus) Hladik, Michael (Ann) Molnar, and Cheryl (Tim) Tycholis, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Chloe Hladik, Rylynn Leslie Molnar, Annelyse Mary Tycholis, and Ryan Hedin, 4 step-grandchildren Rhyon and Ross Caldwell, John (Melissa) Speed and Paul Speed, 3 Step-great-grandchildren Breeanna and Nolyn Caldwell, and Christopher Vandeven, as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Steve, her daughter-in-law Sharon, granddaughter Leslie and brother Steve Koska. Mary was born in Plunkett Saskatchewan which is a little town east of Saskatoon that she was so proud of through all of her life. Mary cherished her family and enjoyed cooking her delicious Hungarian meals, lovely desserts for them and her numerous friends and extended family. In the summertime you would always find Mary in her garden tending to the vegetables and her Hungarian peppers. From the labour of love that Mary put into her garden and canning at the end of the season, everyone enjoyed the finishing touches. She enjoyed crocheting and has made many afghans that were distributed to family members and friends. She was one of the first parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes church and a member of the CWL. She was an honorary member of the Hungarian Society of Saskatoon. Mary enjoyed going to the Hungarian hall where she made homemade sausages and cooked many meals for special events. She also participated in Folkfest by preparing the food at the Hungarian pavilion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Vigil for Mary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 17th, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18th, 2014. Both services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church (1235 12th Street East. Corner of 12th Street and Wiggins Avenue.) Rite of Committal will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lisa Ruf - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306-978-5200)
