It is with great sadness that the family of Mavis Ruby Scharbach (nee Kuhling) announce her death on Saturday, October 7, 2023. She ended her journey on this warm, sunny fall day at 87 years of age. Mavis was born on July 5, 1936 and raised in the Star City area. She moved from Star City to Saskatoon where she met the love of her life Joseph Scharbach with whom she spent 49 years of marriage until his passing on October 4, 2007. Mavis was a self-taught piano player at an early age spending hours with her cousin, Shirley “banging away” every day. She also enjoyed riding her horses Billy and Shorty. Mavis enjoyed working as a Cosmetician at Pinders Drugs (later Shoppers Drug Mart) in Saskatoon for over 65 years. She was the longest standing employee of the company. She took pride in her work and had a strong connection and friendship with both the staff and the customers. She enjoyed dancing with Joe and took part in the many Legion activities as they were both active members for many years, as well as sewing clothing for herself and her family, beautifying her yard and reading. She will now be able to enjoy eternity with her parents Fred and Hazel Kuhling, husband Joseph Scharbach, her son Bradley Scharbach, grandson Tyler Chmura and brother Barry Kuhling. Mavis is survived by her daughter Wendy (Ronald) Strohan, sister Sandra (Michael) Zmud, her brother Ronald Kuhling (Norma), brother Allan Kuhling, sister-in-law Margaret Scharback along with many neices, nephews , cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for their care and compassion of Mavis, and the loving support from family and friends at this time. Interment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers donations in Mavis’ memory may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. Arrangements entrusted to Travis Minor.
