

Elder Melvina Eagle was born on Moose Woods Reserve on March 25, 1932, and passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her sons, daughters and grandchildren. Melvina Eagle lived a long, glorious life and started her journey to the spirit world at the age of 93.
Melvina Eagle was a proud and devoted member of Whitecap Dakota First Nation, and her life was rooted in her Dakota language, traditional practices and spiritual beliefs and has been a constant source of support, advisor and spiritual leader in her community and representing member of many committees in the Indigenous communities of Saskatoon.
Melvina Eagle carried herself with pride, strength, resilience and deep compassion and becoming a pillar of guidance and wisdom to her children, grandchildren and community members and the people who touched her heart.
Melvina Eagle was predeceased by her son Peter Oliver Eagle and her oldest daughter Elaine Eagle and her lifelong friend and partner Andrew Ironside.
Melvina Eagle is survived by her 5 children, Elmer Eagle, Brian Eagle, Winnie Eagle and Larry Eagle and Gloria Eagle and 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, many adopted children/adults who blessed her life with love, understanding and pride.
Melvina Eagle played a significant role in raising her grandchildren, Priscilla Ermine, Melvina Ermine, Candice Eagle and Tara Tokohopie, Devon Eagle and Leanna Whitecap, Peter Eagle and Christian Ironside, Summer Redeagle and Shayne Redbear, offering them not only a home but unwavering love and commitment, Dakota language, spiritual beliefs and values.
Melvina Eagle was a respected elder, cultural leader, advocate, commitment to preserving and honouring her Dakota language, traditional and spiritual practices and honouring her ancestors and the four directions.
Melvina Eagle will be missed and remembered for her laughter, kindness and generosity.
