Mike was born in Edmonton, Alberta and lived in many places in Canada. He was predeceased by his parents Isabelle Royal (Lynch) and Neil Royal, his sister Janet, and his brother Doug. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda Bradley-Royale, his son Brad, his daughter Lindsay, and his sister Lois.
He was a grand figure, who was passionate about life. His start was filled with a career in hospitality, dining, beverages, entertainment. He always told a great story—you’d be lucky to have him behind the bar, whipping you up a cocktail and telling you something fascinating with an air of charisma. He got his red seal and became a chef, which was a proud passion. On Christmas we would dine on French cuisine—escargot, caesar salad and lobster poached in butter. He was talented and it made him happy to engage in food and bring people together. He was always finding something to create—be it in pastry, knife making, or shooting.
But his true talent was his love and admiration for his family. He adored his family and created a unique and special bond with his wife and children. He was always there to lend an ear, sage advice, a laugh, to have a hard conversation. His whole life was filled with Brenda—a true partner to him.
Mike will be remembered every time we sit down for a luxurious meal, every time we need a joke, a quirky view of reality, or some guidance in life. He was a unique guy- may we all lead with his confidence and charm as we grow old. Love always to him.
