Milt passed away Wed March 9, 2022 peacefully in his sleep at the age of 95, just 22 days short of his 96th birthday. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Margaret, his sister and brother-in-law, Verda and Art and his younger brother Clayton. Just 8 months short their 70th anniversary Milt is survived by his loving wife Elsie, his son Keith (Vivian) and daughter Donna, his grandson Daniel (Sheena), his granddaughter Jaime (Chris), his great grandsons Connor, Isaac, and Riley, his great granddaughters Evy and Madison. Milt’s first love was his wife and family. He and Elsie enjoyed visiting family in the surrounding provinces and traveling BC in the summers with their daughter Donna. There were many family reunions over the years which they loved attending. Milt grew up in and around Churchbridge, survived pneumonia at age 2 and graduated grade 12 as the first graduate not requiring a correspondence course in Churchbridge. Milt’s first job was at 9 years old filling a water trough for cattle and got paid 10 cents a day which was big money at the time. As a child and teenager, he milked cows and delivered milk (before school), to help supplement the family income. Curling and pool were his passions in his 20’s and 30’s. Milt had a long successful career with Reliance Lumber, starting 1947 in Churchbridge, working his way through a few other locations to Saskatoon and finally Regina. The first home Milt built was in Saskatoon on Cairns Ave in 1959. The family moved into the basement while completing the main floor bungalow interior and exterior. He built kitchen cabinets and a 12’ long floor to ceiling bookcase of solid mahogany using only his skill saw. After that the running joke was, “when it was time to repaint the interior walls, it was time to build a new home again”. During his early years with Reliance, he finished his accounting course by correspondence in 1959 and became the office manager and controller in Saskatoon. He became the district manager in 1967 and sales manager in 1972. In 1975 he sold 95 homes in one year himself. The next year 1976, Milt sold 50 house packages and a 30-suite apartment package to be shipped to Uranium City, along with his normal selling. In 1977 he moved to Regina as the manager of construction operations for Reliance. He just had the company growing well when, in 1979, Reliance was sold to Boychuck Lumber. At this time Milt moved back to Saskatoon. While in Saskatoon and Regina, Reliance allowed Milt to moonlight with his own business called All Season Homes partnered with another individual, building and selling a substantial number of homes and apartment blocks in Saskatoon and Regina. Further, Milt and son Keith also had their own fledging housing company called Family Homes. When the housing market fell apart in the late 1980’s in Saskatchewan, Milt closed out his personal business interests and finished his working career as a realtor. After being retired for a while, at age 71, he started his computer life with a hand-me-down Windows 3.1 from his son Keith in 1997. Keith said, “have fun and don’t worry about breaking it". After that he became an email and genealogy junkie. He loved surfing the internet. Milt and Elsie moved to Circle Drive Place on August 11, 1999. Milt was elected as chairman of the resident’s council at the first meeting on September 12, 2000 and held that position until 2007 when he became the treasurer of the condo board, staying fully involved until he passed. Milt was also active in the Alliance Church as a greeter for many years and he especially enjoyed interacting with the children as they arrived with their parents. Our family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in Milton Paget’s name. A private Celebration of Milton’s Life will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 11:00 a.m. at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive).
