Born December 15, 1943 in San Diego, Chile, Nelson along with his wife Maria made the difficult decision to immigrate to Canada to better themselves and have a better future for their children.
Nelson took great pride in his marriage and shared over 50 years of love and companionship. Nelson and Maria had seven children and chose to raise them in Saskatoon.
Anyone that knew Nelson understood very quickly that he was a man with a very dry sense of humor who was never afraid of speaking the truth. Nelson often engaged in philosophical discussions and often pondered the true meaning of life.
Throughout the years, Nelson and Maria experienced many hardships. Whether it was experiencing -45 weather for the first time or overcoming English as a second language. Together they overcame it all.
A little known fact about Nelson, he learned a lot of English from his love of sci-fi and action movies, he preferred to watch them in English instead of in Spanish. He had a bit of a sweet tooth, our father never passed on an opportunity to enjoy a piece of cake.
Although his departure was quite unexpected, we are eternally grateful to call Nelson our father. To our family Nelson was more than a husband and father, he was our hero.
Rest in the arms of our beautiful mother and may you sleep eternally in peace until the day when we are reunited. We love you Dad.
