Orest Morris Hankewich

December 28, 1949 - September 13, 2014

Orest Morris Hankewich was born on December 28, 1949 in Rose Valley, SK. Orest was the third son born to Steve and Mary Hankewich. Orest grew up on the family farm in the Ponass Lake area. He attended school in Script, Fosston and Rose Valley. Orest's first job was working on the pipeline and helping on the family farm. Orest moved to Saskatoon in the early seventies, there he met the love of his life, Lynette. Orest and Lynette married in 1980 and together they raised their three children, Michelle, Steven and Katherine. Orest owned his own trucking company for many years and finished his career as a driver for PeBen Trucking. Orest was predeceased by his father, Steve; mother, Mary; brother, Don and father-in-law, Jerry Crossman. Orest is survived by his wife, Lynette; children, Michelle (Kurtis) and grandson, Kohen; Steven (Kelsey) and Katherine. He is also survived by his brothers, Barry (Pat), Allen (Elaine), Alden (Jackie) and sister, Janice (Ramon) as well as many nieces and nephews. Orest's demeanour and outlook on life made him many life-long friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saskatoon Cancer Centre Research (20 Campus Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4H4 306-655-0698). The Memorial Service for Orest will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor St). A private family interment will be held.
