It is with a profound sense of sorrow that we, the family of Pauline Snitinsky, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, April 8 with her husband and children at her side. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John Snitinsky, five children from her first marriage: son Bernard Stuchenko, daughter Lenora Wiebe, son Allan (Cathy) Stuchenko, daughter Jo-Ann Stuchenko-Berg, and daughter Susan McNeil. She leaves 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one sibling, Lena Pavloff, many nieces and nephews, and many special friends, notably Jean Ochitwa.
Mom, the first-born of twins, was born on the farm near Biggar, Saskatchewan on February 20, 1926. She married Boris Stuchenko in 1945 and they farmed in the Arelee district until 1953, and Benito, Manitoba until 1966 when they moved to Saskatoon. Several years after Dad passed, Mom married John Snitinsky in 1972; they farmed near Watson, Saskatchewan and Mom continued to work at the Royal University Hospital. After Mom retired, they spent many fun-filled warm winters in Texas as snowbirds. Their home was always filled with friends, food, and laughter. Mom was well-known for her cooking, and her handiwork, including her crocheting, sewing, embroidery, quilting, and painting. Even though she often had to sit with her leg elevated, her hands were never idle. We all cherish pieces of her embroidery and crocheting. Mom loved the outdoors and could often be found in her bountiful vegetable garden and her beautifully fragrant and colourful flower garden. Now she is in God’s garden.
The family expresses a special thank you to the caregivers at The Royal University Hospital, the Personal Care Unit at City Hospital, Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre and Stensrud Lodge. We also extend a special thank you to Reverend Hupka who prayed with us in our hour of need.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Very Rev. Roman Kocur, at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Dr., Saskatoon, SK 955-1600) with interment to follow.
