Reine Marie Schatz

On Thursday, August 30, 2012, Reine Schatz (nee Denis) passed away quietly at her home at the age of 89 years. Reine was born on August 8, 1923. She is survived by her husband Herb and children, Marc (Deana), Blaire (Julie), Lauraine (Terry); grandchildren, Chandy, Adam, Cara, Ian, Shelby and Josee-Lynn, brothers; Leon (Jeannette), Fernand (Ceciel); and numerous nieces and nephews. Reine was predeceased by one sister; three brothers; and her parents. Reine was born and raised in St. Denis SK. In 1945, she married Emile Hamoline and lived in Aberdeen for many years. In 1970, she moved to Saskatoon where she made a home for her children and herself. After various jobs she became a library technician and worked for the Catholic School Board. Through a mutual friend she met and married the love of her life, Herb on July 17, 1976. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She loved to travel and looked forward to the winter vacations they took every year. She was an amazing mom and gramma and will be missed very much. The Vigil of Prayer for Reine will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. both services at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, (1902 Munroe Avenue South) Saskatoon, SK. Rite of Committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In place of flowers, memorial donations in Reine’s honour may be made to the Columbian Manor Chapel.
