Robert Gordon MacSorley

Robert (Bob) Gordon MacSorley passed away surrounded by the love of his family and friends on Monday, February 24th, 2020 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bob was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to James Gordon and Edith Margaret (Satre) MacSorley on July 22, 1947. He was the second of their five children: Mel, Bonnie (Engdahl), Bev and Al. He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest sister Bev. He married Connie (Stovin), his wife of 51 years on November 30, 1968. Bob and Connie have two daughters, Carrie (Wakkuri) residing in Wheatland, Wyoming, with her husband Mike and their two children Matthew and Tayen Wakkuri and Cindy MacSorley (Chris Johnson) residing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Extended family – Monica Payne of Regina, Saskatchewan and Ronda Simpson of Vancouver, British Columbia. His family was his pride and joy.

Bob knew the meaning of a day’s work. Since he was young he had many different jobs from setting pins at the bowling alley, driving truck, breaking horses to apprenticing in the mining industry for many years before earning his Journeyman Certificate as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright). His job took him throughout Canada, the United States and to other countries - Chile, Brazil and Australia. Not only did Bob know how to work but he knew how to have a good time too, just ask any one of his family or lifelong friends, they would be glad to share a story or two.

Those who knew him could see he had a gift when working with a horse. He had an eye for a horse and could see potential that no one else could. Many have trusted his wisdom, knowledge and old school ways.

Bob will be truly missed by his family and his many friends near and far.

Funeral service to celebrate the life of Bob MacSorley will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5th 2020, at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre, Saskatoon, SK, with Mr. Jake Friesen presiding. Cremation remains will be laid to rest by the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.
