March 10, 1948 – August 12, 2018
Ron slipped away in the early evening of August 12, 2018 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, with his family by his side. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Sharon Resch and her children Kade, Samantha and Ethan; son Bruce Chatterson and wife Richelle and children Braxton and Cohen; brothers Laurie (Jo-Ann); Tim (Jackie); and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents Bruce and Audrey; sister Donna; brother Kelly; and son-in-law Shane Resch. Ron was Bruce and Audrey’s eldest child and he loved being the standing patriarch of his family. He enjoyed storytelling and describing experiences from the past. One of his favourite things to do was reminiscing with friends and family about how things used to be on the Chatterson farm. Although Ron left the family farm near Wolseley, SK shortly after high school, the farm was never far from his heart. His upbringing on Falcon View Farms kept him grounded and molded him into the great man that he was. Ron’s true life passion was education and he took great pleasure in teaching young minds. It truly gave him an enormous sense of importance which was reflected in the way he treated his students over the years. His teaching career started in Norquay. Ron then moved to Carrot River and started his family. When he was presented with the opportunity to bring his family close to home, he moved back to Lemberg and lived there for many years. He would later finish his tenure in Cumberland House, which was both his most challenging posts – but in many ways his most rewarding. Over the years, hundreds of students went through his classrooms and he relished every minute of it. No matter where Ron ended up – whether it was being the lifeguard at the community pool in Eston, drilling for diamonds in northern Saskatchewan or on one of his teaching posts – being part of the community was always important to him. From curling bonspiels and golfing to coaching and umpiring ball, hockey or volleyball; wherever he could take part he would. For him it was an opportunity to be with friends and pass wisdom onto the younger generations. A Funeral Service for Ron will be held at Windsor Chapel located at 704 Windsor Street, Saskatoon, SK on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer you make a donation to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation (#1-345-3rd Ave. S., Saskatoon, SK S7K 1M6). Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
