Ruby Maria Telfer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mom and Grandma, Ruby Maria Telfer in the early morning minutes of June 20, 2025. Ruby was the beloved Mother to Chris Telfer (Sarah Latondress) and Shandel McLeod (Matthew McLeod - Husband). She was the best Grandmother and she deeply loved her grandchildren. Duncan and Logan McLeod hold a forever place in their hearts for their beloved Gramma Grams. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon Telfer and her parents Albert and Lucy Petko.

Ruby was born on January 9th, 1955 in Herzogenaurach, Germany. She arrived in Canada with her younger sister Angie and her parents when she was two years old. They traveled across Canada by train to settle in Saskatoon. Ruby was the oldest of five children and took on many responsibilities growing up. Later she went on to meet Gordon and a great love grew. Gordon and Ruby were married and started a family of their own. Eventually moving to their acreage in Grandora, Saskatchewan.

Ruby worked as a Home Health Aid with Saskatoon Home care. She also was involved in any organization that her kids wanted to participate in. She supported them the best she could, in all endeavors that the kids were involved in. She loved to travel and was always up for adventures. Her and Gordon went everywhere together, and after he passed she traveled with her children and grandchildren at every opportunity that came up. She loved animals, especially cats. From barn cats to strays, she had many favorite kitties by her side. She enjoyed a good social event, and was well known as the life of the party. She will be dearly missed, and will always be with us as we adventure on.

Ruby also had a love and desire for baking and cooking. She created her own private cookbook. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and the biggest dinner would be made with the largest variety of cookies and goodies proudly on display for everyone to enjoy. Part of what made her cooking special is that she loved to keep the secrets of her recipes to herself. Holding them over everyone with a playful smile.

A celebration of life will be held for Ruby on August 8th, 2025 at 1pm at the Royal Canadian Legion (606 Spadina Crescent West), Saskatoon, SK. There will be a cash bar and snacks, and we ask that everyone be respectful and remove your hats when in the Legion. We also ask everyone to be respectful to each other, as Ruby would want us to be happy and have a good time.
