He left once to join the Air Force in 1942, came back to Dundurn, worked on the family farm West of Dundurn, then was Post Master in Dundurn for 25 years retiring in 1984. Rye and Irene moved to their condo in Heritage View in 1999. He fell ill shortly after Irene passed away and moved to Better Living PCH. After his stroke in July 2013 he moved to Sherbrooke Veteran's Village. He was very involved in the community and his immediate and extended families were integral to his life. He loved to learn, travel, visit, play cards and games, golf, curl and to correct our grammar. The family thanks the staff at Sherbrooke, particularly those in House 10, who took such wonderful care of Dad and became his friends and added to his family. He will be missed.
