Steve was born January 23, 1930 and passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at 92 years of age. Lovingly remembered by his wife Pearl (nee Harapiak) of 61 years; daughters Cynthia (Michael), Sandra (James), and Alexandra (Armin) and pre-deceased by daughter Melinda.
Stefan lived his entire life in Saskatchewan and the rich soil of the prairies was an important thread throughout his life. Born during the Great Depression, Steve’s childhood was shaped by the challenges of the Dirty Thirties on a farm near Dahinda, SK, with his father John, mother Sophie, and siblings Phyllis, Arthur, Phillip and Elaine. Throughout the 1950’s when dapper Steve moved to Regina, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and curling while also singing in a barbershop quartet. He married the love of his life, Pearl, in 1961 and made a home for the family in Regina and Saskatoon having spent his working life at Carling O’Keefe Breweries (later Molson Breweries) working the barley into beer of the every man. Later in life, Steve and Pearl fulfilled their dream of owning an acreage near Vanscoy, SK.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK). If family and friends so desire, memorial donations in Steve’s memory may be made directly to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Arrangements entrusted to Aime Laventure.
