Stefania "Stef" Blanch

Stef Blanch, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the age of 82. She leaves to mourn her husband Murray of 55 years, her three children and their families. Kelly (Darlene) Blanch, Debbie (Norm) Joanis, Michelle (David) Climenhaga. Eight Grandchildren, Megan (Dustin), Erik (Heather), Nick, Emily (Aiden), Lukas, Harrison, Foster and Griffin. Four great-grandchildren, Caybree, Leo, Macie, and Poppy. Siblings, Alice, Ed, and Teddy, as well as, extended family and friends.

Stefania Koch was born November 27, 1941 in Kelvington, SK. the youngest daughter of Walter and Helena Koch. She attended nursing school in Humboldt, SK. After graduating, her sense of adventure took her to Winnipeg, MB, London, ON, and Bermuda where she worked as a nurse. She made her way back to Saskatchewan where she fell in love and married Murray Blanch on June, 29, 1968. Murray’s job took them to various cities around Saskatchewan and they settled in Saskatoon in 1978. Stef created a beautiful home for her family and their home was the gathering spot for many nights with family or friends.

Stef loved playing cards and hosting gatherings, shopping or visiting over coffee (or a glass of wine) and was always interested in learning something new. She was fiercely independent, caring, inquisitive and open-minded. Murray and Stef loved to travel and their adventures took them to Europe, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand and many other spots around the world.

She was a devoted mom, grandmother and great grandmother, and everyone loved sleepovers at grandma and grandpa’s house. Stef’s final years were full of challenges as she battled Alzheimer's with grace and dignity. The family would like to thank the staff at Oliver Lodge for the care that Stef received during the last year.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 16, 2024 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon).
