Teresa was born on July 17, 1930 to John Gieselman and Margaret Gieselman (nee Bender). She was raised on the family farm near Young, SK— attending school first at Little Manitou country school and later Young School. Teresa worked as a store clerk for the Young Co-operative Association from 1952 to 1955. In 1955, she moved to South Allan, where she worked for the South Allan Co-operative Association until 1958. Teresa married Ian (Mick) Alisch from South Allan on November 26, 1958 and they raised two daughters, Sheila and Brenda.
In addition to gardening and helping with field work, Teresa was an active member of the South Allan and Allan communities. She was a longstanding member of the Lost River Happy Gang Community Club, member of the Allan CWL, as well as General Leader of the Lost River 4-H Club for many years.
In 2001, Teresa moved to Young. Over the next 14 years, she served on St. Patrick's Parish Council, Young CWL and was president of the Young Senior Citizens Club for a number of years. Her final years of independent living were spent at St. Ann's Residence in Saskatoon. While at St. Ann's Residence, Teresa enjoyed daily coffee in the common area, as well as playing dominoes and cards in the lounge. Her greatest joy, however, was time spent in the chapel.
Over the years, Teresa spent many enjoyable hours with friends and family curling, fishing and camping. The family always looked forward to their annual summer camping trip to Loon Lake. She enjoyed every moment spent with her grandchildren — babysitting, watching hockey games, ball games, school programs and music recitals. She was thrilled to become a great grandmother and took great joy in decorating her fridge with their latest photographs and art work.
Teresa was predeceased by her parents John and Margaret Gieselman, husband Ian Alisch, daughter Sheila Madland, grandson Brenden Madland and brothers Leonard, Theodore and Herman. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Brenda (Gordon) Koshinsky, son-in-law Brant Madland, grandchildren Andrew Madland (Megan Koshinsky), Laura (Wes) Kirby, Eric (Samantha) Madland, Carl (Kenadi) Madland, Sydney Koshinsky and Campbell Koshinsky (Chance Tarasuk), great grandchildren Ruth, Eila, Rhett, Beth, Elliot, Emma.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church (409 2 Ave. Young, SK) followed by private Rite of Committal in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute in her memory are asked to donate to any charity of your choice.
