Walter McNabb

1937 - 2024

Walter Bryan McNabb, 86, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024. Walter was born on December 8, 1937 to Roy and Elsie McNabb in Birsay, Saskatchewan. He met Margaret (Dampier) at Mid-City Motors in Saskatoon and they married in 1963. Together, they raised two children, Blair and Jodi, and shared a bond that lasted 61 years. Walter’s career in the automotive industry spanned over four decades, starting as a mechanic and culminating in owning a GM dealership in Meadow Lake. Throughout his career, he built lasting relationships with his colleagues, customers, and the community, always bringing a personal touch to everything he did. Walter was an avid traveler. He and Margaret enjoyed many trips around the world, with their annual visits to Maui being a cherished tradition. Walter was also deeply committed to his family and community, always eager to give back through support and service. After retiring in 1995, Walter took up woodworking, a hobby that quickly became a true passion. He crafted beautiful pieces that were sold at various galleries, earning admiration for his talent and craftsmanship. Walter remained active throughout his life, whether it was running, working out, or playing his favourite sports…slo-pitch and volleyball. His energy and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him. Walter will be remembered by his wife, Margaret; his son Blair McNabb; daughter, Jodi (Grant) Keil; and his granddaughter Madison Longmuir. He is also survived by his sisters: Pat Hemingway, Judy (Gordie) Cook, Sheila (Don) Thompson, Lucille Pavo, and Debbie (Denny) Bond. He was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Elsie McNabb, sister Shirley Tomecek, and two brothers-in-law. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing team and doctors at St. Paul’s Palliative Care unit for their compassionate care during Walter’s final days. As per Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service.
