Mr. Wayne Ivan Berg

Wayne Ivan Berg was born Feb 27, 1927 to Celia and Victor Berg. Dad attended Miller Memorial Bible School and there fell head over heels in love with Frances Wakelin. They married in 1949 then trained for the mission field before going to serve with the Gospel Missionary Union in Ecuador for 2 ½ years. When they returned to Canada, Dad pastored in several communities where he made lifelong friends. These included AGC churches in Lac Vert and Spalding, Strasbourg, C&MA churches Nipawin, and Luseland. After retiring from the pastorate, He worked as building manager at the Circle Drive Condos in Saskatoon, for 3 years then moved to Red Deer where he often “filled the pulpit” at a Baptist church. When they moved back to Saskatoon, he organized and led Sunday afternoon services at the Condo. He was a pastor to the end!

Wayne was predeceased by his parents: Celia and Victor Berg; his siblings: Vincent, Doug, Raymond, Dalton and Margie; His wife: Frances; his son in law: Granville Schindel; His great granddaughter: Thizbe Balzer. Left to treasure our memories of him are his children: Dolores George (Ian), Donald Berg (Adele), Marlene Moorman (Don); his sister: Verna Agler; Grandchildren: Colin Schindel(Angela), Lisa Balzer (Steve), Karen Allidina (Alnoor), Dana Schindel (Nicole), Nicole George, Olivia George (Brian), Francis Berg, Lana Hutchinson (Robert), David Moorman (Crystal), Andrea Lockwood (Dana), Philip Moorman (Megan); Great grandchildren: Georgia, Celia, Emmett (Jamie), Reuben, Leonard, Meeda (Theo), Sylvie, Isobel, Emma (Caleb), Elizabeth, Sophie,Titus, Finn, Max, Evelynne, Jacob, Brielle, Bennett, and Great great grandchildren: Raemah, Thalia and Odessa.

Dad loved God with his whole being. He treasured his family. Right until the end he loved to play his guitar and sing and to play games like Crokinole and Scrabble. Even when not much else made sense in his mind, he lit up and loved each of us when we entered his room. He never wavered in what he believed or who he loved.
