Wilbert Joseph Schmirler came from God to be a precious son, brother, husband and father. He was born and raised at Bruno SK and helped on the family farm until moving to Saskatoon as a young man. It was here that he met and married his beloved Edna and together they built a home and raised their daughter. He was gifted to serve as a heavy duty mechanic/engine rebuilder, and was employed by International Harvester motor Trucks and subsequently G. J. Bell International Trucks Ltd. He was also blessed to complete a number of special carpentry projects. On August 6, 2012, Wilbert peacefully returned to God – called and accepted into the glory of his Heavenly Father through faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. He joins Edna, daughters Sharon and Patricia, parents Frank and Hilda, siblings Lorne (Nell), Norma (George), Elmer (Theresa), and Roman, and members of Edna’s family. He leaves to cherish his memory and look forward to the day of glad reunion, his loving daughter Verla, brother Frank (Margaret), sister-in-law Marge, and many nieces, nephews, and precious friends. A service to celebrate the eternal life that is ours through Christ Jesus will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 627 Taylor Street East, Saskatoon SK. To await the day of resurrection, Wilbert’s earthly body will rest at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Deep gratitude is extended to Dr. Andrew Harrington for many years of exceptional care, as well as to staff at Home Care, RUH, City Hospital 3300/3100 and Luther Special Care Home for their loving care over the past few months. Arrangements are entrusted to Penny Aadland, Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (955-1600). Condolences to the family may be emailed to www.acadiamckaguesfuneralcentre.com.
