The sister of Ted Gillings sadly announces his passing, at the age of 75; Ted had been ill for some time. Ted was born in Lumsden, SK to Vergie (Kidd) and Albert Edward Gillings on May 8, 1938 and the family moved to Dodsland, SK in August of that year. He spent most of his life in Unity, SK, then in Humboldt. At 18 he joined the RCAF – serving a few years as an airframe technician. On leaving the air force he worked at Canadian Airlines and later for Air Canada. He was also a member of the Commissionaire Corps. Ted loved to travel and had the opportunity to do so many times. He was well liked by those who knew him and he loved to have coffee and chat with his many friends.
Ted leaves behind to miss him his sister Ruth Lawrence of Calgary; nieces and nephews Doug Willis (Diane) of Assiniboia, Jim Willis (Colleen) of Vermilion, Patti Graves (Brian) of Saskatoon, Valerie Stolz (Kim) and Dawn Willis (Joe) all of Humboldt, and their families.
Ted was predeceased by his mother and father (the Gillings) and by his sister Evelyn (Doug Willis).
Ted will also be missed by Lance and Sadie Trotter and their family of Vernon, BC. Lance and Sadie were Ted’s second family and longtime friends. One other person must be acknowledged. John Renton was a good friend and partner to Ted. John resides in Airdrie, AB with his family.
At Ted’s request he was cremated and no service was held.
“Rest well my brother! We love you.”
