Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years Edwin Stevens; daughter Debbie Alcock (Dwayne), son Tim Stevens (Patti), and grandsons Jared Alcock (Kayla), Lucas Alcock (Andrew Dewar), Ethan Stevens and Tyler Stevens (Sydney Kent).
Ruth was born in Richards Landing, the cherished daughter of the late Artie and the late Laura Littleton and the beloved sister of Sharon Caple (Charlie), Edna Maguire (Ross), the late Ken Littleton (late Susan), Joan Bishop (Ross), Joyce Thompson (late Doug) and Roy Littleton (Laurel-Ann).
Ruth was the beloved daughter-in-law of the late Leonard and the late Gladys Stevens and the late Bertha Stevens, sister-in-law of the late Clive Stevens (Faye), Carrie McPhee (late Bob), the late Harvey Stevens (Mary), the late Wilfred Stevens (Dana), Sharon Farquhar (Gene), Wesley Stevens (Sharon) and Calvin Stevens (Julie).
Ruth was raised on her parents' farm in Richards Landing where she gained her love of gardening and learned the value of family, hard work and community. She was a loving and nurturing mother and left her career with Air Canada to raise her young family in the Sault's east end.
Ruth was a steadfast friend and lived her life helping others. In the Sault, she was a committed Block Parent and a dedicated extra-ed volunteer at Parkland School. When her and Edwin returned to the Island and built their dream home on the edge of the Mountain, she became a guide for a generation of young Pathfinders, and a long time volunteer and leader with the Jocelyn Recreation Committee.
Ruth enjoyed a lifelong love of gardening and took great pleasure in making maple syrup in her and Edwin's sugar bush. She had a love for travel and her and Edwin were blessed with their time in retirement to make many more travel memories, including their trans-Canada road trips that she particularly loved. Ruth was an avid cross country skier and golfer, and in later years a disc golfer at the Mountain View course. She led a rich and full life, enriching everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
