Mr. Charles Arnold Rowe

ROWE, Charles Arnold – Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital – General Site on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in his 82nd year. Loving husband of Joyce for 56 years. Beloved father of Frederick (Mary-Jane), Cliff (AnneMarie), Sandra Berlinghoff (Derek Williams), Sam (Johanna). Devoted grandfather of Stephanie (Jonas), Wendy (Jesse), Jennifer (Ryan) Meghan. Great grandfather of Gabriel, Damien and Arja. Son of the late Frederick and Lily Rowe. Step son of the late Irma Rowe (Tier). Predeceased by his sister Madeline Yeaman (late Bert) and Eleanor Shaw (late Ed). Brother-in-law of the late Jean Tulloch (late Alvin). Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, Pat (Bill), Donna (Bob), Janice, Fred and Judy. Great uncle to Robbie and Kim. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 11 am until time of service in the chapel at 1 pm. Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 would be appreciated by the family.

Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 are requested to assemble at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 12:45 pm for a memorial service for the late Charles Rowe at 1 pm.

Arn's nickname was Sonny. He first lived at 114 Alexander St., Sault Ste. Marie. He went to King Edward School and then the Technical High School. Arnold enjoyed bowling, curling, fishing and hunting. His first job was working at the A&P grocery store and was pd 4.95 for 1 1/2 days work. He started working at age 13. Then he worked at Eli's Pool hall as a janitor; then the Columbia Bowling Alley, Empire Bowling alley. He started working at the ASI on Aug 6, 1942 until 1984. He retired as a heavy equipment mechanic. He loved trains. He joined the army in 1944 until 1946 where his unit was demobilized. He married Joyce Gray on Aug 23, 1952.
