FRENETTE, Claire (née Thibeault) - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Claire Frenette on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice, our forever valentine.
Loving mother of David Frenette (Kayla) and Julie Twentyman (Taylor). Cherished Mémé of Émilie and Sophie Twentyman. Daughter of Thérèse (née Parent) and the late Ernest Thibeault. Dear sister of Diane Strumila (John) and special Matante of Joel Trottier and Justin Strumila. She will be remembered by her children’s father, André Frenette.
She remained a pillar of strength for her family, even in light of this new cancer diagnosis. She did not leave much up for debate, had plans and lists that had to be completed before it was her time to go. She never backed down and fought a courageous battle until God called her home into her Dad’s open arms, where her suffering would end.
The mark of an amazing person is demonstrated in the quality of friendships they have cultivated over their lifetime. She has been surrounded by the most close knit, supportive, caring and selfless group of friends, she called her angels. From taking her to appointments, procedures and treatments, to bringing meals, house cleaning, coming over for visits, or staying the night so she wasn’t alone. David and Julie would like to extend their gratitude to each and everyone of you for being there when we could not and, even when we were there, supporting us as well. Merci à chacun d'entre vous. Nous ne pourrons jamais exprimer à quel point nous vous sommes reconnaissants.
Matante Diane, you sacrificed so much of your time, away from your own family to be here to support her and us. Your help and guidance in navigating this difficult time amidst your own grief is priceless and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
In particular, our family would like to acknowledge Dr. Susannah Cook at the Group Health Centre, Dr. Tian Xiao, and Louise at Algoma District Cancer Program and the staff at ARCH, especially Jac.
Family and friends are invited to visit Arthur Funeral Home & Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522) on her 65th birthday, Sunday, February 22, 2026 between 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Paroisse Sainte Marie-du-Sault on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 11:00 am with Rev. Trevor Scarfone officiating. Claire will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. Memorial donations payable (by cheque or online) to ARCH, Tracy’s Dream, the Algoma District Cancer Program, or the charitable organization of your choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com
