He is now reunited with his parents Lyle Riley and Laureena Hill. Most cherished brother to Leslie Sewell, Paul Johnson and William Mullins-Johnson. Lifelong friends with Dan Sayers Jr. Cherished uncle to Jean Marie (Anthony) Johnson, the late Valin Johnson, John (Faye) Johnson, Chase Sewell and Darby Sewell. Darrell will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Darrell devoted his professional life to a career in finance. Darrell found his greatest joy in the outdoors, especially when casting a line and enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was well known for his beloved chariot, “Sputters,” which held a special place in his heart and brought him great pride and joy, and it was a part of his life that many will soft-heartedly remember. Darrell cherished the simple moments, gathering for barbecues, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. These were the times he held closest to his heart and the moments that will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Darrell’s life on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the Batchewana First Nation Food Bank (Niigaaniin Food Bank) would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the family.
