Her Roman Catholic faith was very important to Eileen and was expressed through her involvement in the Catholic Women’s League at St. Veronica’s Parish for many years and later as a reader at St. Ambrose Parish in Thessalon. After Eileen and Eugene moved to Bruce Mines she followed her interest in plants to become a Master Gardener, advising and assisting others with their gardening problems. She served on many committees in her new home town, including the Holy Walk, the Horticultural Society and Museum Board. Over the last decade as her health declined, Eileen was reluctant to relinquish her independence. Friends and acquaintances in her new home community of Bruce Mines came to her aid many times. Her family is grateful to those who assisted her through this time. For not only the care provided, but also for the kindness shown to Eileen, we wish to thank the staff of the following: Community Care Access Centre, Bayshore Home Health, the Doctor’s Office (Bruce Mines), Thessalon Hospital, Great Northern Nursing Centre, Emergency Department and 200-Y Wing South of the Sault Area Hospital. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, May 3, 2010 from 1 pm until time of funeral service in the chapel at 3 pm. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
