Gaetano came to Canada from Italy in 1958, enduring a long journey by boat with the hope of building a better life for his family. He made his home in Sault Ste. Marie, where he worked diligently at the Weyerhaeuser /Lajambe lumber mill for many years until his retirement. His unwavering work ethic and integrity left a lasting impression on his family, who admired him deeply every single day.
He was a man of generosity, charm, and authenticity. Gaetano loved his family with all his heart and soul, and that love was felt in every moment shared with him. He will be fondly remembered for his passion for gardening and the outdoors, his joyful collection of traditional Calabrese music, and his spirited tarantella dancing. A harmonica enthusiast, a fierce bocci and card competitor, Gaetano brought life and laughter to every gathering. He was also a master of tradition. Each year he led the family in making salami and preserving tomato sauce, passing down the techniques of his heritage with pride and precision. These rituals became cherished family events, filled with laughter, passionate conversations, stories, and memories that will live on forever. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the family.
