Ich musste an dich und deine Kinder und Tante Margret denken.Ich hatte mit Hannelore schon über ihren Urlaub mit Tante Gerda bei euch in Canada gesprochen und wie gut es ihr damals gefallen hat.Wie oft hatten wir in all den Jahren darüber gesprochen doch mal nach Canada zu fliegen.Aber leider haben wir es doch nicht gemacht, ich hätte Gordon sehr gerne kennengelernt.Ich wünsche euch allen für die Zukunft alles Gute.Deine Cousine Birgit

Over a conversation regarding university I learned that during his early battle with cancer he worked on his university degree from the hospital bed and still managed to complete his exams, all while having chemo treatment. This amazed me. When stressed out over school I think back to the conversation we shared. Most people would have put school on hold, but he just continued to work like everything was perfectly fine. All the years I have known him I have never heard him complain about a single thing no matter how much pain he was in, I didn't understand how he could do it, how he managed to stay so positive and carry on like there was nothing wrong. This just goes to show that no matter how bad your day at work was or if something just doesn't go your way, its not worth getting upset because things could be a lot worse. He was a truly inspirational man. I hope his journey has taught everyone else as much as its taught me.

Marion, my heart goes out to you and your children. I was blessed to have known Gord when he was a young man.I thought he was funny, smart and generous. I can see by all the kind words that he touched many lives and was a very special man. His legacy will live on in his family who loved him so much.

Gord was instrumental in the musical experiences of my son, Bill.  Casting him in Les Mis, was the start of many musicals for Bill, and my observing of the work that was involved by Gord, always positive, calm, full of ideas.  His presentation on cancer at Emmanuel, further touched me.  He was a definite inspiration in so many ways.  He will be missed.

Gord and I have been friends for a long time. We have shared many good memories and though our busy lives often took us on very different paths, our bond of friendship has stayed true. Gord...it was both an honour and a pleasure to be one of your many nurses throughout the years.  Thanks for those night shift conversations about life and family that comforted me as much as you. My sincerest condolances to your family.

They say you can tell the size of a man's heart by the smile on his friend's and family's faces. Gord had the extraordinary gift of making everyone he knew feel special. He may have been taken from us but his memory will live on in all of our hearts for he was someone so special we will never forget. 

Gord was many things to many people: an adored husband, a treasured father, a brother  and brother-in-law, a loyal friend, a teacher, a hero, a mentor, a colleague, a musician, an arts connoisseur and a man who has left a wonderful legacy.

We are truly enriched for having known him and so grateful for our time with him and for the way he affected us and affirmed for us that he lived his life the way a beautiful life should be lived to the fullest! 

Marion, Andrea, Jonathon, Laura and Paul: I know how difficult it is to look beyond the sorrow you feel today but may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. Hold tight to your memories for comfort, lean on your friends and family for strength, and always remember how much you are loved. May you take comfort in knowing an angel is watching over you. Although I never had Gord as a teacher he taught me how to live life well... love, laugh, listen, be loyal and always be generous with every second you have.

Once, when I was low, Gord took the time to seek me out, sit with me, listen and make me feel special. But I know that's how he made everybody feel. Singing with Gord, bringing joy and laughter to a room full of strangers, ourselves included... simply unforgettable. Sitting in the back of a packed church listening to Gord comically and casually inspire hundreds to LIVE in the face of cancer... awesome! Seeking Gord out, sitting with him, listening and sharing stories with Marion and the kids... a gift that I will cherish forever.

We are blessed to have known such a wonderful man. Our favourite memories of Gord are of creative, joyful times working together to produce or perform in works of art that were truly labours of love. Les Mis and CATS were creative highlights and Gord was extremely proud to have the opportunity to work with Laura in both productions. We will never forget Gord's kindness and gentle nature. I was always amazed by Gord's positive approach to life over the past many years.  I'll never forget you telling me that he was working on Les Mis, from his hospital bed, when in for one one of his many surgeries, as if it was just an inconvenience.  Remarkable.

He was such an amazing teacher to so many. The best. He was my grade 10 drama teacher and I have so many fantastic memories from his classes. Some of my best memories from high school. He would tell stories about the plays he had been in or directed...the way he talked about it all, with such enthusiasm, he really made you want to be part of it, and get into plays yourself. Great sence of humor, great motivational skills.
Very sorry to hear of his passing, I imagine he was an even more amazing person to his family than he was to his students.

Gord Widget was the best teacher I ever had.  My cousin and I won the local science fare and he came with us to Rivier de Loup and it was one of my favorite memories from my high school years.

I was always impressed by Gord's conviction and his sincerity in everything he did for our students and our school community. He was a true professional and a gentleman. He will be missed. My thoughts are with his family.

My condolences to the Widgett family.  Gord always had 5 minutes to find out what was going on in your life, a very giving person.

I remember working with him on a few different shows for the Musical Comedy Guild.  He was a wonderful actor whose passion for the art rang through with every role.  I have also substitute taught his children.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

Mr. Widgett was my home room and science teacher at White Pines from 1992-1996.  I was just speaking of him two days ago to my finace of when he sang "The River" by Garth Brooks for the graduating class.  I'm deeply saddened by his passing and will remember him always.  To his family I wish you the best in this time of loss and pray that the love of so many ease your pain.

I first met Gordon during a singing competition with the Great Northern Opry back in the early 90's. Gordon was the most kind and soft spoken man I had ever met. Gordon's presence on stage was bigger than life. I have not been in touch with Gordon since then but like many...I never forgot the endearing and quality human being that he is. Sincere condolences to family and friends.

I really didn't like science until Mr. Widgett made it interesting! It was a long time ago, but he really did have a great impact on my highschool learning experience.  My condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.  Keep your memories close.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Gord we go back a long way...right back to Greenwood School. I just came back to my room in Jamaica and I decided to check the news...I wish I hadn't. I remember the days in high school when we played trumpet together. YOU gave more than the average person Gord, you were exceptional.
Your days on this planet are indelible.
On this side we say "there he goes"...on the other side they say "here he comes".
