Helen Alene Christenson

Loving mother of Arianna (Bassel Alkosani) and Madeline (Henry Wood). Proud Nana of Heleena and Omar Alkosani. Predeceased by her parents Einar and Alene Christenson. Dear sister of Ken (Mary Anne). Helen will be greatly missed by her fur baby Evie.

Gros Cap was a place Helen truly loved to call home. A strong and independent woman, she made history as the first female Chartered Accountant in Sault Ste. Marie. She began her career in private practice before retiring from Algoma Steel after many dedicated years of service.

Helen was deeply devoted to helping others. She travelled to China to adopt her two daughters and lovingly grow her family. She was also an active volunteer with the Alzheimer Society, giving generously of her time and compassion.

Helen made a remarkable impact in the Syrian refugee community in Sault Ste. Marie. She played a leading role in organizing support, sponsorship, and resettlement efforts for refugee families arriving in the community. Working closely with these families, she helped them establish new lives with dignity, care, and hope.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial donation (payable by cheque or online) to Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
