Aunt Helen to many, Young Helen to family, and Mrs. St. John “The Secretary” to hundreds of kids at James Lyons, Prince of Whales and Bayview Public Schools, and she remembered all their names (and how many times they got sent to the office).
Mom loved big parties, her home was party central for 3 generations, the more the merrier. Her Halloween caramel apples were legendary and her Gluten-free blueberry cheesecake and date squares were in demand.
After retirement, she spent her time volunteering at the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Clinic and was the knitting coach at the F. J. Davey Home.
In her later years, she moved to the Great Northern Retirement Home and enjoyed her last years making new friends, dancing, and playing Bingo (Poorly).
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Great Northern Retirement Home and the wonderful nurses on 3A for your care and compassion while helping mom complete her life.
Mom loved flowers – For those wishing to make a financial contribution in her name, she loved the F. J. Davey Home, The Great Northern Retirement Home and the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Care Clinic, but she would always say “Just do what you think is right”.
