James Edward “Big Jim” Biedermann went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family. With deep love and peaceful hearts, we announce his passing and take comfort knowing he stepped from this world into the arms of his Saviour.
Jim was a gifted craftsman who could build, repair or improve anything he set his hands to. He found joy in the outdoors and loved fishing, ice fishing, hunting, and spending time in the bush. Whether planning a fishing day or a hunting trip with family or friends, the outdoors was where he found peace and contentment.
Jim took great pride in his work, but even greater pride in his family. He carried a big heart beneath a rough exterior and will be remembered for his strength, humour, and the lessons he passed on to his children. “Go big or go home” was his way of life, and his presence filled every room he entered.
He spent his final days under the compassionate care of ARCH – Algoma Residential Community Hospice, surrounded by love and dignity.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy (née McCarnen); his children Michael (Alicia), Sarah and David (Danielle); his cherished grandchildren Madisyn and Jackson; and his mother Shirley Biedermann (née Denault). He will be missed by his siblings John (Debbie) and Christine Laforest; his mother-in-law Dora Pavlischek (Chuck); and his brothers-in-law Randy McCarnen (Valerie) and Chris McCarnen (Ron).
Predeceased by his father James Elgin Biedermann; grandparents Maggie and Albert Biedermann, and Rita and Albert Denault; brother-in-law Gilles Laforest; and father-in-law Garry McCarnen.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Those wishing to do so may make a donation in Jim’s memory (payable by cheque or online) to ARCH – Algoma Residential Community Hospice. Arrangement entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522). Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com obituaries section to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
