I will miss my Nanny very much.  I have been extremely lucky to have known such a wonderful woman and to have her help to guide me through the majority of my life.  My Nanny never complained about anything and was always around the motel to help and to teach.  Thank you for everything you have given and taught to both me and my family.

It is amazing that when put to taks the grandios memory never comes to surface. It is not that there were none, but you find the deepest longing is in missing the many little things that make a person special. Events can't describe a person or a relationship. Only the nuances that make up the essence. The little things end up becoming what you miss; the meals, the laughter, the feeling of safety and acceptance that can only be felt when in the presence of unconditional love. And that is my grandmother. Unconditional love...and that is what I strive to learn from this incredible woman and that is what I miss most.

Your Mom was a wonderful woman.  I'm 72 years young myself and I will never forget her passion for teaching.  She was my Grade 5 and 6 teacher and I remember how strict she was but also fair.  It was because of her I pursued a career in teaching.  A career  that I loved.

Laila,Robin, Damien & Steven,  I will always remember your Mom as one of the most gentle and patient women I've had the opportnity to get to know.  She loved to show me her photos of all her family that were placed all over her home.  Laila you were her pride and joy in every way.  My prayers are sent out for all of you that you may in time be comforted by her memories.  I have and will continute to miss her with you.

Dear Laila and Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your dearly, beloved mother. Mrs. Joki taught me in grade 5, 1960 at Flora MacDonald School. I adored  your mother and later I became a teacher because of her. Now I am retired and living in Porcupine, but on occasion I did ask her Timmins friends about her. Since I only lived across the street on Balsam, I got to stay after school and clean the boards and brushes. Your dad would drive her in the morning and pick her up after school. It seems like yesterday. I shall definitely cherish all the wonderful memories I have of Mrs. Joki. If you have a chance, I would love to hear from you.

So many memories from the Porcupine, visits to the Joki's in Timmins during the winter months.Then the summers in Barber's Bay trekking through the trail in the bush to your cottage from Granny and Grandpa's with the stops between at Saarinen's...What a good life we had as kids!!
I have been lucky to see your Mother a few times since you left the area and catch up on some news.Lots of good memories!
