LEAHY, Joan Ann - After a short and courageous battle with cancer, we are saddened to announce Joan Ann Leahy (nee Biedka) passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 in her 76th year. Joan Ann’s bright spirit and warmth will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her. Born on August 7, 1938 in Sault Ste. Marie, Joan Ann lived her whole life, close to family and friends. A registered nurse, Joan Ann worked at the General Hospital where she proudly served the community. Joan Ann was predeceased by her loving husband Paul Leahy in 2003. She will be greatly missed by Walter, her cherished and devoted son. Joan Ann was the dear daughter of the late Walter and Jennie Biedka and loving sister to the late Thaddeus Biedka. Joan Ann was the loving sister in law to the late Lenna Lamont (late John), Bill Leahy (late Amy), late Harry Leahy (Barbara Smith, late Genevieve) the late Jack Leahy (Lee), late Ted Leahy (Pat), Ann Taylor (Norman), and Sister Jean Leahy. She will also be dearly missed by her aunt Lucy Pomber and her uncles, Father Gerald Yadivisiak and Edward Yadivisiak and by all of her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 492 Wellington Street East on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 5pm until 9pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 10am, at St. Veronica's Church, 559 Douglas Street, with Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
