My deepest sympathies on Michael's passing. Uncle Mac lived with such good humour and determination even when battling his illness. 

As my sister Geri said, I have such fond memories of growing up with him. While I can't say that I was perfectly at ease when he dangled me over the stairs holding me by my feet, things like that always made me think of him and his parents as my fun and silly relatives in Sault Ste Marie. I can't think of any better gift to offer others than his proof that you can lead a great and fulfilling life while keeping a light heart.

Michael was such a special, kind and happy man.I will never forget how good he was to Rose and I….he got such a kick out of us…..we definitely kept him entertained. My fondest memories are the dinners we had at the chinese restaurant Pagoda.I use to think Michael was so generous….he always left our waiter such a generous tip. Deepest sympathies to Mike's family. In our high school years Mike worked for my Dad - Wally Trainor - and Mike was one of the guys everyone loved to work a shift with. No matter how crazy busy we got he was always smiling and most professional even in those younger years. I am blessed to have had the privilege of his friendship. I will always remember Mike for his warm smiling eyes, his great kindness and wonderful humour.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Mac. I will always remember him looking after us as kids in England, when he squealed the tires on the car, completely disregard the speed limit and immediately ignored my mother's instructions on what to feed the kids and what time we should be in bed. I will also never forget that he managed to pull off a birthday cake for me (I cannot honestly even remember how old I was that year) and the yellow dress he gave me, probably the only dress I ever wore willingly. He was an amazing Uncle with the best sense of humour, who could make us all laugh ourselves silly. I will never be able to think of Fawlty Towers without thinking of Uncle Mac killing himself laughing about the hearing aids. 
He was the best Uncle any kid could hope for, I  am sure Ed would agree with me wholeheartedly (once he gets over his fear of being thrown off a tall building, Uncle Mac's favorite threat to him as a small child). I still have the last email he sent me from the hospital about 7 months ago, I will treasure it always along with his mulitude of pirate jokes made at my expense, he did so enjoy them. 
 
My love to everyone, I am sorry not to be there during this difficult time.

Dear Carla, I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing. He was a good friend and colleague, always enjoyable with his wit and humour. I have great memories of Mike and want you to know that you and your family are in my prayers.

It is with heavy hearts that the Northern Development Division announces the passing of our very dear friend Mike Murray, after a courageous battle with a long term illness. 
Mike was the Manager of the Financial Services Unit for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.  He was known to his fellow staff as the consummate professional and mentor, always providing sound financial advice and business direction to NOHFC and the Ministry. His door was always open to assist his team, fellow provincial colleagues, and senior management in any way he could.  More importantly, Mike was known to everyone who met him as an extremely friendly person, with a wonderful sense of humour.  In the busy office environment, Mike balanced hard work with light-heartedness, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone he interacted with, and creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. His humour and generosity were felt by everyone around him; and the jar of jujube candies that sat on his desk next to his 3 Stooges coffee mug was an invite to drop in.  A dedicated family man, Mike was keenly aware that there was more to life than work, and he supported his staff and coworkers in balancing business and their personal lives.  
NASCAR, the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Lions have lost one of their biggest fans.  
Your fellow staff miss you, Mike.  Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.
