It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful Mum, Phyllis Mary Robertson, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, surrounded by her children.
Cherished mother and greatest support of Emily Antonello (Jamie) and Robby Barber. Grandma-to-be to Baby Antonello, due in January. She will be deeply missed by her brother Rob (Lesa) of Ashburn, Ontario and sister Heather (late Jack) of Port Perry, Ontario. Much loved "AP" of Michael (Jes), Jonathan (Amanda), Karen (John) and their children. Phyllis was particularly close to her Watson cousins and their families, and will be especially missed by the Barber family, most of all by her children's father Thom.
Our family is deeply grateful to our friends for their support during this time. We are especially thankful for Mum’s dear friend Marg, whose kindness and generosity extended to all of us.
Born on October 17, 1955, to Judith (née Claydon) and Robert Robertson in Windsor, Ontario, Phyllis’ childhood took her to many places, including Halifax and Montreal, before the family settled in Sault Ste. Marie in 1963. She attended Anna MacRae Public School and Sir James Dunn C&VS before discovering her passion for helping others while studying at Algoma University. She went on to attend Central Michigan University, where she trained in Speech & Language Pathology, a career she loved so deeply that she “unretired” twice to return to her calling. For nearly 30 years, Phyllis made a difference in the lives of countless clients, families, and colleagues. She also shared her knowledge as a sessional professor in Psychology at Algoma University for nearly two decades, inspiring many students, some of whom went on to become SLPs themselves because of her encouragement and passion.
Outside of her professional life, Phyllis found joy in creating. Her many sewing projects, handcrafted jewelry, cherished family recipes, and home décor pieces will continue to bring beauty and warmth to her children’s lives for years to come.
We are especially grateful for Dr. J. Law, Dr. M. Culina, Dr. S. Spadafora, Dr. S. Davidson, Dr. S. Buehner, the nurses and staff on 3C, the Algoma District Cancer Clinic and Bayshore. Phyllis was peaceful and ready when she passed, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E 705-759-2522) with funeral service on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 11:00 am. Interment in the St. Luke's Columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) in Phyllis' memory may be directed to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Robertson family.
