Passed away At the Sault Area Hospital on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the age of 79. Predeceased by her husband Beverley.
Loving mother of Tom (Shirley) and Tammy. Born to the late Verna (late Dan Gilbraith) and late Edward Burnett. Sister of the late Joy Tecter (late Allan), late Marlene Plastino (Gino), late June Bergamin (Ron) and Sharon Simko. Sister-in-law of Gail Lapointe (late Hughie), Russell (Lois), Josie Segars (Jack) and Mary Dubreuil. Cherished aunt to many nieces (special thank you to Wendy and Penny) and nephews. Special Thank you to Sandra and Karen. Verna will be missed by extended family and friends.
Verna worked as a Secretary and Teachers Assistant for many years with the Algoma District School Board. She also volunteered with the Fibromyalgia Association. Verna was involved with the United Baptist Church for many years, teaching Sunday School and a member of the Currie McPhail Mission Circle. She also enjoyed going to the Bethel Bible Chapel as well.
Two of Verna's favourite places were her trailer and her garden. She also enjoyed making items for her family to enjoy; quilting, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She was also an avid animal lover, having many companions over the years.
As per Verna's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2026, details will be posted. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation (payable online or by cheque) to the SAH - Renal Care Fund, United Baptist Church or a Charity of your choice.
