

LaMurl Shuman Blakely, 91, of Savannah, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1921 in Pembroke, Ga., to the late William Jenkins “Jenks” Shuman and Beulah Frisbee Shuman. As a child, she moved with her family to Georgetown, SC and graduated from Winyah High School in Georgetown, SC. She moved to Savannah in 1942, and united with Trinity United Methodist Church. She was formerly a member of the Lucille Marshall Sunday School Class, until it closed, and then joined the Marvin O’Neil Sunday School Class. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, crosswords, the Atlanta Braves, and keeping up with grandkids (picture frame). She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Frank Blakely, and a brother, William “Billy” Jenkins Shuman, Jr. She is survived by 3 daughters, Frances “Fran” Blakely Stanley (Bill), Kathryn “Kathy” Blakely Mayo (Darryl), and Susan Blakely Hall (Tommy), one son, Raymond Edward Blakely (Beverly), grandchildren, B.G. Blakely, Shannon Hall Gailey, Lisa Hall Brandenberger, William Bricker Stanley, Ashley Blakely Collette, Justin Michael Hall, Carly Elyse Blakely; great grandchildren, Jackson Glenn, Cason Robert, Sadie Kay Blakely, and Braden Nicholas Gailey, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga 31406. Graveside Services: 12:00 PM Saturday, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, with Rev. Enoch Hendry, Dr. Ralph Bailey, and Rev. Melissa Traver, officiating.
