Mr. George Wong

Mr. Wong was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps following service in World War II.

He was the first coach at Savannah Country Day School and also taught and coached at Savannah High School and Wilder Junior High. George also had an appliance shop in Savannah and a package store on Wilmington Island.

Mr. Wong was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Tong Wong and his mother, Loo Shee Wong, by brothers, Charlie, Tommy and Jimmy Wong and sisters, May Lee, Stella Loy and Frances Wong.

He is survived by his wife, Lily and son, Michael and a sister, Florence W. Wong and a brother, Richard Wong.

As a physical education major in college, he was involved in sports all his life and later became an active member of the Bacon Park Senior “Blitz.”

Graveside Service: Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Bonaventure Cemetery Greenwich Section.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salvation Army of Savannah, P.O. Box 23798, Savannah, GA. 31403 and the World War II Monument Fund.
