
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Quitman Carter.
Elizabeth was born in Lula, Ga., and was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School in Clermont, Ga. She lived in Savannah, Ga., at 334 Stephenson Ave, for over 60 years before moving to Greenville, SC in 2001. She was a homemaker and also worked in the family business, J.Q. Carter and Son Furniture Company.
She was a very active member of Memorial Baptist Church, and had served as President of the Baptist Women for many years.
She is survived by three sons: Larry Carter and wife Bobbie of Montgomery, Al; Jerry Carter and wife Theresa, of Greer, SC; and Frank Carter of Savannah, Ga; three sisters, Viola Dorsey of Athens, Ga; Betty Gaines and Jackie Scott both of Fayetteville, Ga; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Ga 31406.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Carolyn Cubbedge officiating.
Interment: will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions: Charity of donor’s choice.
