Robert "Bobby" James McBride Sr.

Bobby was born on December 4, 1940 in Savannah, Georgia, a son of the late James Frederick McBride and the late Mary Lillian Kearney McBride.

Bobby grew up in Sacred Heart Parish and graduated from Sacred Heart School. He was a 1958 graduate of Benedictine Military School. Out of high school, Bobby joined the U. S. Navy. His naval career was cut short by an accident. Bobby’s strong personality and determination contributed to his recovery. He then married Pauline Fitzpatrick and raised five children. Bobby never hesitated to help out anyone that was in need. He retired from Georgia Ports Authority after 38 years of service. He was active with the Knights of Columbus and St. Frances Cabrini Men’s Club. Bobby even started the football program at St. James Catholic School. He had a passion for woodwork and could always be found tinkering in his shed.

He was a loving husband, father and Papa. Survivors include three daughters, Beth Hoffman (Herb), Therese Hendley (John) and Erin McBride (Lance); two sons, Kevin McBride and Robert McBride, Jr. (Joyce); four brothers, Tim, Ronnie, Denny and Kerry McBride; Thirteen grandchildren, Megan Hendley-Wheeler, Ashley Hendley, Katie Hendley, Mallory Hendley, Kayla McBride, Alysen McBride, Colin McBride-Parker, Trace McBride, Lauren McBride, Kathryn McBride, Landon Hoffman, Alyssa Elery and Caitlynn Hoffman; four great-grandchildren, Sean Hoffman, Charlie Hoffman, Harrison Elery and Brayden Davis.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Pauline Fitzpatrick McBride and great-granddaughter, Brynna Hoffman.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Friday at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel – 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive. The rosary service will be held at 6:00 o’clock in the funeral home chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning in St. James the Less Catholic Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Abbey – East.
