Mr. Robert Clifford Meade Sr.

Robert Clifford Meade, SR, 90 of Canton, GA, formally of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Minnie Humphrey Meade; a brother, Gordon Meade and a sister Brunnie Durden. Robert was born in Candler County, near Metter and raised in Savannah. He was married to the former Doris Jones. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this October. Robert and Doris were long time residents of Savannah and were active members of Calvary Baptist Temple until they moved to Canton, Ga. 6 years ago. Robert served in the U.S. Army in northern Italy during World War II. For many years he was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters local # 188 and later worked in Plant Maintenance Supervision, retiring from American Cyanamid and Kemira. He is survived by his wife, Doris Jones Meade; four daughters, Brenda Meade Anderson (Robert), Sandra Meade Kynerd (Tom), Lyn Meade Britt (Mike), Christine Meade Hanton (Joseph); a son, Robert C. Meade, JR (Christine); 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Schaefer, many nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5 - 7p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Service: 11:00a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Lee and Rev. Mike Britt officiating. Burial to follow service at Forest Lawn Memory Garden. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert's grandsons, Ed Barlow, Joshua Britt, Nick Grayson, Jonathon Hanton, Joseph Hanton, and Matthew Warren.
