

Thelma Ellington Bridges, 91, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Candler Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton J. Bridges. She was born and raised in Twin City, (Emanuel County) Ga. and was a graduate of Brooklet High School. Thelma married the love of her life and moved to Savannah in 1946 from Brooklet, Ga. She worked at Ambos Seafood, was a home maker, a member of the Washington Ave. Christian Church, and a big fan of Savannah Country Day School football. Thelma never lived a day without a laugh and a smile. Her life and her laughter inspired every person fortunate enough to meet her. She will be sorely missed on this earth, but is now rejoicing with her God in Heaven. Thelma is survived by a great-niece and great-nephew, Carol and Patrick O'Connor of Savannah; three great-great-nephews, Tyler (Maggie), Thomas (Kelly), and Tate O'Connor; one great-great-great-nephew, Liam O'Connor; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel with Rev. Thomas S. Blackston, Sr. and Mr. Patrick T. O'Connor officiating. Pall bearers will be Tyler, Thomas and Tate O'Connor, Al Heath, Ronnie Adger, and Ben O'Connor. Burial will be at 2:00p.m. at the Brooklet City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Washington Avenue Christian Church, 1515 Washington Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
