He was born in Savannah, GA March 4, 1926, and he was the son of William Ira Remley, Sr., and Bertha Cleo All.
He graduated from Savannah High School, in 1946, and was the last surviving member of the only state championship football team (1942) the school ever had.
He was 17 when WW II started and he like many others left school to join the Navy. He was a disabled veteran surviving a plane crash.
After the war, he returned to school and graduated, and was given a football scholarship to Auburn University, but he left Auburn to come home, as his mother became sick, and he was needed at home to help take care of her.
He went to work with the U. S. Post Office as a Letter Carrier, and retired after 40 years.
He loved football, dancing, and fishing and most of all his family and friends. He was raised at Bull Street Baptist Church, and when Memorial Baptist Church started, he moved his letter there until it closed. After that he joined Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.
He was a devoted husband, loyal friend, and generous adoring father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jean Campbell Remley, his two sons, Sam (Marie McManamon), Tim and his daughter, Beth Remley Lewis (Carl V. Lewis), also his sister in law, Barbara Campbell Train and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
