Strength grown from; his mom and dad that were always by his side, his girl that I know he loved so much from the late night talks we'd have, his brothers that he'd tell stories about.  I thank him for sharing his stories.  We all loved having him.  I made it part of my job to put smiles on people's faces but David stole my job and put the biggest smiles on my angels's faces with his warmth, wit and sincerest gratitude.  I love that most about him, he cared for us ✊️!  David... you did great, thnx for smiling❤️!

Reading the obituary we learned that David was a very bright, courageous and wise young man living an exemplary life.

While I didn’t know David well, there’s no question he was a unique and powerful light in the lives he touched. I’m praying for your peace through this journey of grief. David Mark, aka DM was a great role model for me when I started working and it was my privilege that we crossed paths in our work journey.  

It's hard to put into words what he meant to me because we were both a bit introverted.  He didn't talk much but his actions showed his character to me. He was so kind to everyone and had excellent work life balance that I admired to this day.  He was always polite no matter who he was talking to, generous with his humour and never made anyone feel bad.  He was a comfort at work and I remember joking with him about using the work wifi to sign into my 3DS. He is also so humble about his amazing art style, especially drawing animals!  It wasn't until a few years later that I found out he had done such amazing personal art too! DM is gone too soon, and his genuine sincerity will be deeply missed.

Dear Mark family,
I had the pleasure of meeting David when I was hired at Snap in 2017. He and I sat back-to-back from one another. He would always return a polite "good morning" but it took time for me to get to know David well. One day I caught sight of his computer desktop which was a collage of stop motion film posters. I mentioned my interest in stop motion animation and he immediately opened up. It was a joy to get to share an interest with someone like Davi, see the progress he made in the workshops he took, and discuss the latest stop motion films we had seen.
Others have said it already, but David left a huge mark on the work we still do at Bitmoji. His incredible artistic skills are the foundation for all the art we've produced over the last several years. The Stories he wrote and the stickers he designed have a signature charm and quirkiness that remind me of him. My coworkers and I will often come across something he made and remark upon how quintessentially "David" it is. They are always creative, observant, and full of a certain kind of whimsy that I can't pin down.
I don't know how to possibly offer comfort to you in this moment in your lives but know that David's kindness, creativity, and sense of humour will be fondly remembered and missed by many people whose paths he crossed, mine included.

My condolences to you. The loss of David is being felt by so many people whose lives he touched, and I hope that it brings you comfort to know that so many people were so grateful to have known him, or to have crossed paths with him at some point in their lives.

When I started at Snapchat, David was one of the first people to introduce himself to me. We ended up sitting right across from one another for a short time as the desk arrangement was constantly shifted to accommodate our growing team.

He had a silly sense of humour, and a love for video games and stop motion animation, so I knew I liked this guy right away. He seemed quiet from the outset; something I felt a particular kinship to. But he was sweet and kind and genuine, where if he made the effort to engage in conversation with you, you knew you were special.

I remember when we got our first order of gelaskin decals for our laptops, David had gotten one with a Bitmoji sticker he had designed- I remember him messaging me saying how he hoped when I looked over towards his desk that seeing it would make me smile, and it always did.
I’ll never forget the time we spent hanging out at the Toronto island on one of the last Snap summer parties before the pandemic hit.
I’ll never forget how upset I felt when he said he was leaving Snap to pursue other opportunities, but I was happy that he always seemed to do what he loved doing, and that was the most important thing.

He was so remarkably talented, every time I saw a new Bitmoji sticker he created, I was floored. It was all so colourful and adorable, you could tell it was David’s work, it always felt like there was a little piece of him there, like he had hugged his work and gave it life.

David’s artwork will remain in the world as a testament to his passion for creativity and world building, long after he is gone. I feel privileged to have been able to share in a small part of his life.

Completely wonderful, you will always be the love of my life. Until we meet again mi amor ❤️

No words I say can ease the incredible pain and loss you are experiencing, but I’m certain that you are surrounded by love and support to carry you through this difficult time. Instead, I want to say thank you, for bringing David into this world, and raising him so lovingly so that he became the ray of light we all know and love. 

For the brief 2 years we got to work together at Jamcity, while our interactions was all behind cameras and calls, his gentle energy and kind soul radiated. His talent was immediately recognize and he taught us more than I think he is willing to admit. We all adored his rare competitiveness that only came out when we play games. I will forever treasure the rare few memories of meeting David and learning about his various quirks, kindness, and eternal enthusiasm for all things Nintendo.

I am incredibly sad to hear of David’s passing. Nothing can ease the pain of losing someone dear, but I hope your loved ones can support you during this difficult time. 

David was my manager and one of the first faces I met walking into Snap. Fresh out of school and navigating my first adult job, I was lucky to have his endless patience, kindness, and artistic eye guiding the way ahead. 

For several years, from two desks over, I caught glimpses of a person who was diligent and conscientious, and who found unmistakeable joy in his craft. I remember the careful way he tended to his plants, his calm and sincere nature in conversation, and his unwavering devotion to building his longtime passion project after a day at work. For all the battles that went unseen, David never showed an ounce of negativity. His quiet strength of character and inherent good nature continue to resonate with me to this day.
 
I’m grateful to have been a recipient of David’s time and friendship, and will cherish both the memories and the creative legacy he left behind. My heartfelt condolences to your family for the immense loss. You are all in my thoughts.

There are just no words to express how big a hole David's passing has has left in our family.  Every now and them someone comes into your lives that leaves a lasting impression, and David was one of those people. Everyone was always drawn towards him, and my wife Andrea and I as his aunt an uncle, had such a tremendous soft spot for him.  My kids, Lizzie and Andy adored their cousin, and that is something you don't often find. 
It's been said that time will heal all wounds, but we don't agree. This wound will remain, long after the tears have dried. Time may cover it with a scar, and the pain will ease. But it will never be gone. 
To Brad, Carole, Justin, Cameron and Sabrina, we can never put into words how shattered we are over David's passing, but we are profoundly grateful to God for his presence in  our lives. 
Rest in Peace, David. God be with you till we meet again.

To the Mark family,

 	I got the chance to become friends with DM during the time we worked at Snap together. He often thoughtfully reached out to me, sometimes just to chat and other times with kind words and encouragement whenever he saw my work posted; sometimes sending me Stickers work we did together in the past as a fond shared memory, or sending me cute birthday messages featuring Pikmin every year. It always made me happy hearing about his walk sightings, and how much he looked forward to spending his birthday by taking PTO and working on his personal art. I loved the passion he had for his long-lived personal project, the kind of infectious attitude that made me feel excited and inspired to reflect on my own art journey and long-term goals. His stopping by my desk on the 2nd floor to chat each day as he was headed home was a force for positivity, and I still laugh at his comments about how he couldn’t work on the Fashion team with me because his "closet is just full of the same blue plaid shirts.” It’s with a heavy heart that I reflect on those days, grateful to have been a recipient of his kindness, and I send my deepest condolences to your family.

Dear Mark Family,

I had the pleasure of working with David over the last decade and the privilege of calling him a friend. 
David embodied so many qualities; patience, kindness, diligence, humour and uniquely carried a sense of innocence with him that was uncomparable to anyone I’ve met.  His love for stop-motion animation, video games and his personal artwork were always with him, almost as much as his love for squirrels.  I’ll never look at squirrels the same way again and they’ll ironically be a symbolic reminder of him for the rest of my life.  Losing David leaves me with sorrow and wishing for more time with him. 

I’ll fondly remember what moments I was able to share with him at work while at Snapchat and Jam City.  I still remember having lunches in the park where he introduced me to the white squirrels of Trinity Bellwoods. Most (if not all) conversations with him sported smiles and laughs even in the hospital.  I treasure what time I had with him as a friend and as a colleague as it was too short lived.  I’m fortunate to have known him and hope his memory and time with everyone he’s touched in life lives on.  The world lost someone who many could learn from by his example.

I hope this message finds you surrounded by the comfort of friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our colleague, David. Though my acquaintance with him was relatively brief, I recognized him as an exceptionally talented and creative artist. His whimsical characters never failed to inspire me.

Upon learning of his departure, a profound sense of regret swept over me. David's untimely loss is a tragedy for us all. At such a young age, he held so much promise and potential, even being a year younger than me. It is disheartening to contemplate the multitude of futures he could have shaped.
