It is with very heavy hearts we announce that Lino passed away suddenly at Chartwell Trilogy in Scarborough on August 5, 2022, in his 76th year.
Loving father to Annie and his late son Jason. Preceded by his wife Mary (Bonello) and his parents Annie and Spiro Micallef. Survived by sisters Carmen (late Maurice), Marion (late Sam), Lucy (George), Jesse (James), Mary (Doug), and brother Tony. Preceded by his brother Henry and his wife Anne Marie. Brother-in-law to Martin (Sharon) and Joe. Preceded by brothers-in-law, Aldo and Tony. Special brother-in-law to Julie and Leo Montinaro. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Lino was proud of his Maltese heritage immigrating to Canada in 1957 with his mother and sisters to join his brother Tony and father in the Dufferin area of Toronto. It wasn’t long until Lino with his family began to frequent The Junction where the Maltese culture flourished in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. In recent years Lino’s health prevented him from visiting the Malta Bake Shop in The Junction, so his sister-in-law Julie made deliveries of his beloved pastizzi.
Lino was a caregiver for many years of his life for his wife Mary, his son Jason and his daughter Annie. His beloved family was afflicted with Huntington's Disease. The care he provided would be physically and emotionally draining to anyone but Lino was able to care for his family out of devotion and love.
Donations in memory of Lino can be made to the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities which provides much support for his family.
A Funeral Mass for Lino will be held on Monday, August 15th at 11:30 am at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am before the service.
