Iraklis “Hercules” Rougas passed away peacefully, with his children by his side, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 79. Born on March 17, 1943 in Finiki Laconia, Greece, he was one of four children to Stavros and Sotiria Rougas. Preceded in death by his wife, Panayiota “Toula” Rougas, Hercules will be greatly missed by his children, Roula, Helen, and Steve (Lisa), as well as his two grandsons Alex and Christian. Iraklis moved to Canada in 1975. He and his wife began a wonderful life together with their 3 children and started building long-lasting memories for their family, which included weekend beach getaways, Easter celebrations in the backyard, and hosting many family/friends gatherings at his home. His strong work ethic and long work hours never impeded on his dedication to his family, as he was always present for his kids’ soccer games, piano lessons, and Greek school. For those who knew Iraklis personally, knew that second to his family, always came soccer, whether it was cheering for Egaleo FC or Toronto FC. Iraklis never took for granted the simple, everyday pleasures in life, including complimenting his wife, enjoying long walks in the neighbourhood, playing Tavli in his backyard, or sharing a box of Oreos with his grandsons. He will be remembered for his confidence and humility, along with his witty sense of humour, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In remembrance of Iraklis, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Parkinson Canada. A visitation for Iraklis will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, 1385 Warden Avenue, Toronto, ON M1R 2S3. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Interment Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Road, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9.
