Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from the loving arms of his wife of 45 years, Janice and his beloved sons, Jamie and Jacob. Jim is now at peace and in the loving arms o f his predeceased parents, George & Marg Clarke, in-laws, Ken & Jean Thurston and sister-in-law, Lynda Mackie. They are all together now. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Kathy (Bruce Prentice), Lori (Gary McCarrell), Janet (Tom Taylor), Sue (Brad Prentice) and Donna (Dave Canning). His best bud and brother from another mother, Nick Burke and his 12 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 Godchildren.
Jim worked hard (44 years less a day as he would say) with Bell/Progistix Solutions, partied hard and in his own words for many years, "If I died tomorrow, I've lived a great life. I have 2 of everything. Proud of my accomplishments, the man I am, but most of all, so proud of my "Jenny" for her strength, as she's the glue in this family and the men my boys have become."
Jim had many passions in life, namely music, guitars, art, carpentry, four-wheeling, cutting grass, fishing, new technologies with solar power and making the RV the best ever, but his biggest passion was ensuring his family was well taken care of, loved and respected. He had the biggest heart, always looking out for others and doing what he could to help and never asking for anything back. A truly generous, loving man to all who had the great privilege to know him.
May Jim's sense of humour, the Keep It Simple Stupid philosophy in life and wisdom always ring in our ears and when you hear Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd (his favourite song) know that Jim is listening with you and it is our hope that it brings you some comfort and memories of the wonderful times you shared with him.
A special thanks to Dr. Petrella, Dr. Barnes, Dr. Morris and the entire staff at Sunnybrook that took such good care of Jim.
Private Family Moments have already taken place, Cremation to follow and a Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.
Donations in Jim's memory may be made to donate Sunnybrook.ca
