

James was born in Saint John, New Brunswick June 17th 1938. James was born to Ernest and Rela Wilcox He was the middle child of five children Tina, Patrick, James, Danny and Josephine. James moved to Toronto In 1956 for a better way of life. In 1957 he met the love of his life his wife Lydia at the Terrace Roller skating rink The two of them became Engaged and married in June 1958 and 64 years later still remain married. James was the cherished father of 3 children Josie (Silvio), James Jr. and the late Cheryl (Leo). He was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren Paolo, Jennifer, Dylan, Brendan, Matthew, Michael, Tracy (Steve) and Shawn (Nicole). James was also the proud great-grandfather of seven Dante, Aiden, Kyrell, Zakiyah, Lila, Delia and Mason. James’s passion in life was his music where he is known as Gordon Wilcox, it was hard to find him without his guitar. He had many friends in the music industry throughout Canada and the United States, he spent many years recording his music in Nashville Tennessee. he was the winner of many Music Awards and became the Canadian Ambassador for Old Time Country Music in the U.S.A. He was also Inducted into the Hall of Fame in Texas and Iowa. James loved to entertain others, especially the beloved group of friends he cherished in Toronto and the GTA, they would sing and play instruments and just Jam together every Saturday. James was also a big sports fan, he loved all Toronto teams and rarely missed a game, if you went to his house you would find him either watching hockey, basketball, baseball, football and his most recent sport soccer. Throughout his life he played hockey and baseball. James has left a hole in our hearts that will never be filled, it is with great sadness to have to say goodbye. We Will Cherish every memory we hold in our hearts. We would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Michael Garron Hospital for their compassion and excellent care of James over the last days of his life. We would also like to thank Doctor Andrew Wong his family doctor for the care he has given him. A visitation for James will be held at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E, Scarborough, ON M1R 2Y8 on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto, ON M1K 1R1.
