I have met Jonathan and his girlfriend, Raissa, at a retreat at Manresa Ctr just a few weeks ago - fairly recent - but he left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I met him, I was struck by how joyful, optimistic, and deeply rooted in faith he was. He was the kind of person who carried an inner light—something you could immediately feel.

Jonathan’s life reflected how one heart fully surrendered to God can leave a lasting mark on others - he was a reminder to live each day with faith, kindness, and intention. Even in sorrow, we find comfort knowing that God’s love holds him now, with a  peace greater than we can ever understand.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of Jonathan. I knew him only briefly as part of the cast of the Staff Arts musical, but he was always a friendly, warm, and enthusiastic presence. He made a beautiful impression on his new group of friends when he performed a song on guitar at our cast social. We will always remember him participating in a hobby that brought him and others so much joy.

My deepest condolences to the D'Souza family . He was always kind and helpful to me whenever we worked together. No words could ever explain or comfort, but know this, judging by the way he lived his life, he's in heaven. May God comfort the family and may God  have mercy on his soul and may he rest in peace.

Jonathan you are no longer with us here on earth, but our faith teaches us about the communion of saints. And so we have this confidence that the day is not far away when we will be re-united in the holy presence of our awesome and loving God.
You have taught me about worshipping God humbly and serving silently the suffering body of Christ. Your work at the Food Bank and Dismas honoured our Suffering Savior. Your praise and worship ministry uplifted, encouraged and strengthened us when life’s challenges were heavy and too numerous for our feeble shoulders.
Your dependence on the Holy Spirit was evident through your short but powerful prayer: Holy Spirit, we love You. Holy Spirit, be our Helper. Holy Spirit, take complete control of our lives.
You gave the Holy Spirit permission to have His way. We are perplexed by His way - that of suffering and self-forgetfulness.
Please pray for us as we pray for you to enter His holy presence without scar or blemish. 
I will forever remember that blessed walk we shared in the Beaches last July - it was picture perfect - a little piece of heaven on earth! You helped me carry my picnic things from the beach to the parking lot. 
I know the place the Lord has prepared for you far exceeds, in beauty and charm, the sights we shared that day.

Jonathan, we still hold so close the beautiful memories of the times we spent together. I had the pleasure of playing guitar together with you at the Precious Blood Catholic Church morning mass. I only knew you for a short time but you were like a brother to me. You were always positive, humble and your smile was contagious. You'll be missed!

I had the privilege of knowing Jonathan through our church community, where we sang together in the choir. Each interaction was marked by his kindness, courtesy, and sincere attentiveness. He consistently took the time to ask how I was doing, reflecting a genuine care for others that left a lasting impression.

Reading the many tributes and seeing the photos and videos shared in his memory has been deeply moving. They collectively bear witness to the breadth of his compassion, the strength of his faith, and the quiet yet profound ways in which he touched so many lives.

My husband also had the opportunity to play guitar with Jonathan, and those moments were truly meaningful. Jonathan possessed a remarkable ability to foster connection. He would often initiate conversation and thoughtfully invite us to prayer gatherings, cultivating a sense of community and belonging.

His character stands as a testament to the values instilled in him by his parents, who raised him with such care, integrity, and faith.

He exemplified humility, warmth, and a steadfast faith that was evident in both word and action. His presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched.

Hey buddy, I never got to tell you this when you were still with us, but you truly were an exceptional man. You lived your life in quiet imitation of Christ—never loud, never boastful, but steady and faithful in the way that you carried yourself. Your devotion to our faith was not something you took lightly. It became your identity. Your humility, your kindness, the way you gave of yourself and your time to others, the Gospel went where you went. You strove, tirelessly and sincerely, to love as Christ loves and that is why you were the finest example of a son, a brother, and a friend. Where do I even begin, Jonathan… our dear “Johnny,” as our family so lovingly called you. These past one and a half weeks have been incredibly painful—to watch you suffer, to see you lying in that hospital bed, and to feel so helpless in the face of it all. It broke our hearts in ways words cannot fully express. And yet, I hold on to this: the good Lord has gently plucked a beautiful flower to adorn His heavenly garden. That is who you were—beautiful in spirit, in kindness, and in the joy you brought to our lives. You have always been so dear to us. I still remember the time you stayed with us while Mum and Dad were away in India—those simple, beautiful days gathered around our dinner table, sharing laughter and stories. Those memories have never left me. Life, as it often does, carried us in different directions for a while, but how special it was to reconnect again at Precious Blood. The prayer group, our music ministry practices—those moments were filled with such warmth. From making silly faces and laughing uncontrollably to the more profound, soul-stirring evenings of praise and worship… every moment was a gift. We will always treasure our trip to Tampa—the long rides, the laughter, the fellowship, and especially those heartfelt one-on-one conversations after meeting Fr. Joshi. Those were moments of deep connection I will carry with me forever. Our dearest Johnny, you have left behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy. You touched our lives in ways that will never fade. Though our hearts ache in your absence, we are so grateful for the time, the memories, and the friendship we were blessed to share with you. Rest peacefully in His loving embrace. Last December, I came to know Jonathan through my Canadian family where he is well known and well loved. As Jonathan was in Goa, he had come to spend the day at our place. It was a few days before Christmas and so Jonathan helped me in  putting up the 6 foot Christmas tree at our home and decorating it. He was so simple and down-to-earth.. a humble soul. It's rare to find someone like that ..and that too - such a young person. So easy to get alongwith, so helpful and goodnatured. For me the Christmas tree in Goa, will always be linked to fond and cherished memories of Jonathan.

I feel extremely sad to hear  that Jonathan will no more be there ..to share Jesus's love and care with all the people whom he interacted with, but I know there is an angel in heaven called Jonathan.. whom we can now ask for help and intercession.

Dear Jonathan, you will be missed. But your simplicity and beautiful love will always be cherished. 

Eternal rest grant unto Jonathan O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him, May his soul rest in peace. Amen. 🙏🏻

I am so sorry for your loss. 
I had met Jonathan on numerous occasions and I always enjoyed his company. The past several days I have continued to hear how good, hard working, helpful, motivated, cheerful, and positive Jonathan was. 
I cannot understand why he was taken away at such a young age with so much more to give. The only way I can make sense out of all this is that God wanted Jonathan back in Heaven as soon as possible. He was sent here to Earth to perform his duties but now has more important matters commanded by God to attend to.....this has to be the ONLY reason. 
I will ALWAYS remember  Jonathan for how nice and cheerful he was. 
Our bodies die but our souls live on and Jonathan is in a much, much better place and he is at peace with God.
The tears I have now are  filled with sadness knowing that Earth has been deprived of such an incredibly virtuous, humble, and and overwhelmingly nice person but these tears do represent the joy of knowing Jonathan is with God and he is in Heaven where most people will never end up. 
I'm sorry for rambling on.
I will never forget Jonathan and my deepest condolences and prayers for you both and your family. 
I will continue to pray for Jonathan although I know in my heart and soul that he is looking down on both his parents, his family, and perhaps the rest of us with a big smile on his face. He is with God and he is at peace.

Please accept my sincere condolences.  Since Jonathan was new to Staff Arts, I did not know him well.  I do know that he was thoughtful and always ready to help no matter what was needed.   He had a beautiful voice and entertained us all at the Staff Get Aquainted Night.  
Jonathan was assigned yellow as his "brother" colour and he was determined to find just the right pieces.   We will miss him.

Jonathan was a wonderful, friendly person with a good sense of humour. I knew him as our school’s caretaker at Holy Rosary, but he was the backbone of our staff and a wonderful human being. All us teachers thought he was so kind, congenial, accommodating, and a consummate problem solver. Whenever we needed something, Jonathan was quick to help out, and did so immediately even if he was busy with something else, and if he couldn’t, he would find out how to do it. 

He used to greet me every morning with a big smile and always had time to stop what he was doing and chat with me about the weather, what was going on in the world, politics, and life at Holy Rosary, then we would laugh about life’s absurdities. He was always positive and even if I was having a stressful day,  just chatting with Jonathan made me look at the situation with a different and more positive perspective.

 I am so deeply sorry that this beautiful soul is not here with us anymore and I know that his family must miss him terribly. Rest in peace, Jonathan and may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Though I was a beginner and you both were already in your advanced stage of learning piano... I used to watch you very closely and i will never forget your beautiful smile... Tomorrow, as his final rites are being performed, it feels heavy to accept that I will not be able to see him anymore. It is a burden on the heart to even say goodbye.
I still remember him as that sweet little boy, growing up so gently. He was loved by everyone, with his sweet smile that will always stay in memory.

Absolutely amazing guy, and though we were similar in age, he was a role model from afar for myself. God has chosen him to come home sooner. Condolences to all his loved ones.

It is truly with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Jonathan.  I had the pleasure of working with him at St. Catherine for a few years.  Humble, kind, compassionate, hard working, driven  and  a devout Catholic are just a few words to describe the man that Jonathan was. As the kindergarten teacher, Jonathan was in my room alot! I enjoyed our daily conversations and laughs. His smile was genuinely bright. He loved his family and friends and was always ready for a new travel adventure. He enjoyed talking to the students every day and the students equally enjoyed greeting him throughout the day. 
Jonathan was the unseen hero of our school and a friend to all.  My dear friend Jonathan- your memory is eternal 🙏

Dearest Jonathan,

My family and I are so heartbroken to hear of your passing.  While I was more active in the prayer group as a kid, with COVID-19 and the associated restrictions the daily rosary and divine mercy with the JTGS prayer group was a huge part of our spiritual lives during that time. As a fellow musician, seeing your dedication to praising and worshipping God every week as a guitarist and singer was a tremendous spiritual inspiration to our family and to the prayer group community. To worship God is the only real purpose of our lives, and you did that remarkably with humility and perseverance.

Jonathan, your life was a demonstration of what it means to be a young man of God. You worked with your hands as a custodian, you used your voice and your musical talents to uplift the community of God, and you used your energy to drive your family to and fro to their heart's content. 

I pray that, whether you be in purgatory or already with the Lord, that you take consolation in the eternal life of the Lord Jesus that you have lived your life for. You are loved and never forgotten.
