Sarah James, beloved daughter of the late Hilliard James and Carmel Burns, passed away peacefully on Sunday May the 12th. Sarah is the fifth child of a dynamic family of eight siblings. Sarah is the loving sister of: the later Peter James, the late Muriel Bickerton, Margaret Markson, Walter James, Mary Jane Markle, Joseph James (Mary-Jane Hatton), John James (Irene James) and Alexandro Ortega (Anna Ortega). She is the loving Aunt to 21 Nieces and Nephew’s and 40 Great Nieces and Grand Nephews.
Sarah began her educational journey at the University of Toronto, where she pursued her passion for teaching and graduated from Teachers College. After completing her studies, she dedicated 2 years of her life to volunteering in Terrace BC, before returning to the Toronto District School Board, where she enriched the lives of countless students with music and her own unique brand of wisdom.
Following her tenure with the school board, Sarah embarked on a new chapter as a Realtor, where her dedication, knowledge and warm personality made her a trusted and respected professional in the industry for many years.
Sarah had a zest for life and a love for music. She was often the guest organist at many ceremonies through the Catholic churches in Toronto. She gave piano lessons to anyone that even went near her piano... She compiled musical books of her original songs. She also had a love of sports, she was an avid tennis player and found great joy in recreational ice skating.
A Funeral Mass in memory of Sarah will be held Thursday May the 16th at 11:00 AM at Saint Aidan's Church 3501 Finch Ave., E.. Following the mass to honor Sarah’s life and share cherished memories a reception will be held at Saint Aidan’s Church Hall from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM on Thursday. Then all are welcome to join the family for the internment that will take place at Christ the King Cemetery 7770 Steels Ave. E., at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that donations be made to; Saint Vincent DePaul, Canadian Red Cross, or the Call of the Poor (in Manitoba) - all organizations that were close to Sarah's heart.
Please join us as we celebrate the vibrant spirit and lasting impact that Sarah had on all of us.
Sarah will forever be remembered for her kindness, dedication and unwavering love for her family. We all will miss Sarah and remember her as the life of all our family parties with her piano playing and her witty sense of humour.
Her memory will live on in all of our hearts.
