Yvonne Stewart

October 31, 1939 – June 28, 2022

On June 28th, 2022 Yvonne went home to be with her Lord. Yvonne Stewart of Toronto, Ontario aged 82 years was born on October 31st, 1939 in Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland to the late Ann (nee Coogan) and Cecil Stewart.

Yvonne has always been an exceptional woman, who excelled all of her life. Anything she put her mind to, she could achieve great results. From the time she was a small child right up until Alzheimers robbed her of her old age. She won many awards in school, had remarkable grades and was always on the honour roll.

She immigrated to Canada when she was nineteen years old with her father to set out for a new adventure for herself and her family. When Yvonne and her father arrived in Canada, they both found work, he as an electrician and her as a school teacher. She enjoyed teaching, but her real passion was with working with numbers. She worked hard and created an amazing life for herself and her family. She loved her work, but her family was her greatest passion. Yvonne was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother who doted on her children. Her greatest joy was becoming Nanny to her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Yvonne leaves behind her two children Noreen Evans (Paul) and John Stewart (Samantha). She also leaves behind her six grandchildren George (Vanessa), Eric, Christopher, Bridget, Sarah and Emily. As well as her four great grandchildren Paige, Katelyn, Nicholas and Clark. Yvonne will be missed by her siblings Corman (Rita), Paul (Karen), Geraldine, Eugene (Catherine), Nollag, Brian and her brother Hugh’s wife Dianna.

Yvonne was predeceased by her brother Hugh and her parents Ann and Cecil Stewart. Yvonne will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

Funeral mass will take place at St. Boniface Catholic Church on Monday, July 4th, 2022. The interment at the cemetery will take place at a later date.
